hell I havent updated my phones OS in 7 years because after updating to 15 it soft bricks when a SIM card is in. but when I put my SIM card in my new sailfish phone and after backing up and putting the backup on my future working puter I'm considering updating android versions.... although, I'm pretty sure android has gone downhill since 9, so maybe not!

@georgia @phnt @VD15 nah i have an msi bravo from costco that i bought with weird biden minority grant money during the covid years, a t420 i used for a couple years on fedi before that and an hp elitebook i bought used to travel with (the bravo's hinges are fucked and its heavy, but at least it has a lot of ram...) but then we stopped travelling. comfyderp

but i did sell off my remarkable and replaced it with a smaller supernote, and basically ran my last cell phone well past the planned obsolescence comfyxd

@icedquinn @phnt @georgia @VD15 I remember back in the day my friend made some bank by buying lots of these keyboard phones from corporate, ripping the gold off their contacts with aqua regia.

I simultaneously loved his passion for the hustle and hated where the tech trajectory was headed.

@georgia @icedquinn @phnt @VD15 At least we've got durable plasma cutter electrodes from this guy. My bro probably just created a ton of toxic waste to grift a few bucks.

He's pivoted since then, currently runs a highly profitable anime figurine grift, attending cons to shlep vinyl
