btw "if God created the universe, who created God" may be quite literally the dumbest thing i've ever heard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_the_creator_of_God

@jeru he's often called self-created in hinduism, or self-manifest or self-existent. but perhaps a better thing to say is that God is beyond time and causality, being the creator of both, so such a question is rooted in ignorance. i could go on, and i probably will in the future. all i will say is that God is an axiomatic Truth, the basis of all existence and all being.

@georgia this resonates nicely with me, I generally agree that's how it is... Thanks

@georgia tbf it is a legitimate problem if “God” is some guy who made the other stuff

@lizzie atheist-materialists have constructed such a comically innaccurate scarecrow of religion. thats why you hear things like "theres no magical man in the sky"

@georgia @lizzie "you're telling me God is not just some guy who happens to also be God???"

@georgia @jeru existance of stuff doesn't necessitate god

@condret @georgia it's a little heady or stoner-esque to explain why this is how it is... It's clear there's some grand design, that much is easier to fathom..

@georgia @condret @jeru mysticism isnt necessary to prove the existance of god, you can use newton's laws of motion and just a bit of logic. whatever instigated the first universal action that set all things into motion, that's what people call god.
