Why are srams road shifters so insanely expensive

Rival should be same tier as shimano 105 but the shifters are almost twice the price when looking at the hydraulic versions

@snacks the world is discriminatory towards the roadies, but you can always get a cheap sensah groupset and help chinese comrades, I guess mao_pat /j

@snowy nope, the reason i'm looking at sram specifically is because i'm thinking about drop bar bike with rohloff and that requires heavy modifications with special parts in some shifters (130€ per in shimano ones for example).
I'm just daydreaming here tho, don't have to take me to seriously

@snowy and ordering chinese stuff just hoping that it's easy and i can figure it out on my own is kinda...

@snowy rohloff doesn't use a return spring and instead a second cable to pull it back, the indexing also happens on the hub itself. The usual hack is to use a special box that has a ratcheting mechanism so you can use 2 shift levers, one does upshifts and the other downshifts.
Break levers are more compatible with this than off the shelf shifters

@snowy only with midified shufters which is why i was looking at sram specifically. They're by far the easiest to modify
