Do any fedi users have the gay voice? If so, is it a choice? What causes it?

@eemmaa @georgia @lucy my mum used to hang out in gay bars in the 90s but they sound terrifying to me. Hard to imagine a more unpleasant and unfitting atmosphere for me

@eemmaa @georgia @lucy It varies I think. Some sure, but a lot of them are just old dears trying to afford a holiday. I’ve applied to be on game shows

@arcana @georgia @lucy I mean just don’t participate in the weird stuff, all I did was meet some people and talk about video games and anime. But it is a room full of horny drunk gay dudes. I just went cause I figured no one would stare at me, and I was right .

@lucy @arcana @georgia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_I_Sound_Gay%3F

Maybe it's only a USA thing but the gay voice is well known, this is actually a documentary about it I've seen.

Also: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_male_speech

@monkey @lucy @georgia it’s a thing in Britain too, at least on the television though I’ve never really known gay people in person so maybe they do it in everyday life as well

@eemmaa @georgia @lucy that’s fair enough I suppose, still, sounds like an unpleasant environment but to each their own really

@arcana I don't ngl. I just sound like a dude, unless I get excited in a queer way. I should probably voice train soon...

@arcana @georgia @lucy I went to a gay bar recently and it was all over the place. Most people just sounded like normal ass guys and only a select few had "the voice"

@monkey @arcana @georgia @lucy this is also a thing in the UK but not always, it might be related to theatre here because the two people i’ve met with the gay voice were really into that, and other that weren’t into theatre didn’t have the voice. but that’s just my personal experiences (and ill be honest i dont have many)

@autumn @monkey @georgia @lucy I was in theater school but that was mostly women and a couple of guys who fancied themselves as the greatest producers of all time

@eemmaa @monkey @georgia @lucy now that’s interesting, I wonder if it’s a signifier in that regard

@arcana @georgia @lucy that I don't know, last week was the first time in my life I was ever in a situation like that.

@arcana @monkey @eemmaa @lucy I knew a 15 or 16 year old who had it so its not just older gays. I think its innate.
1

2
@georgia @monkey @eemmaa @lucy part of me does think it’s innate because 1) why would you choose to sound like that and 2) it does seem like they don’t particularly have a different voice to use or that it’s fake in any way

@arcana @georgia @lucy I'm looking for a place to hang out and be myself, but I can't seem to figure that out. I tried some trans meetup locally too but I just didn't fit in with that group at all

@georgia @arcana i’ve always had very clear enunciation (at least in german?), people used to comment on that before i transitioned

doesn’t really qualify as gay voice on its own but those speech characteristics sound far less unusual with my feminine voice than they did before voice training

@arcana @georgia @lucy I have no idea if that's a thing where I live now but that would be pretty fucking cool ngl. A Linux user group would be cool too, but that didn't work out. I tried to organize one with listeners of a huge Linux podcast, multiple people said they were gonna show up, I was the only one there

@arcana I think what causes it is that the people who have it were probably molested at some point and feel deeply ashamed of the fact that their body reacted with arousal when a sexual act was being done to them by a person of the same sex, or a family member, etc. So, in order to meme themselves that they enjoyed it and were more in control of the situation and their own body than they were at the time, they adopt a persona of being a "bottom" because that's preferable to admitting that they were victimized. And even if they do consciously admit that they were victimized, the subconscious persists in the act because it makes them feel better internally.

@arcana @monkey @georgia @lucy they do it in everyday life too theres so many british faggots i met there dude its not even a meme they actually sound too exaggerated even for real life its like theres gotta be something deeply wrong with this nigga's mental state levels

@yomiel @VIPPER @arcana some personalities are hardened copes though you could argue it's dubious to see what would've happened without the cope as the original intent and want and "correct direction" of the person. though honestly it isn't dubious, that shit's fucked

@meso @VIPPER @arcana
Eve&oe falsenuke, they probably do it to imitate the female voice, as the imitate female mannerisms also (hand and body gestures), this also explains it's universality.
2

1
@yomiel @VIPPER @arcana they try to seem weaker it's really a shame the extent to which weakness is fetishized and adopted as a personality by some homos cause it shouldn't be it hurts people and makes their life not worth as much as it should which is awful

@meso @VIPPER @arcana
Some gay people will be molested and become gae in the same way some niggas get stepped on in school by a girl and get a foot fetish. but many people also become gae through socialization, prolonged porn usage, lack of father figure, etc. it's honestly random and complicated.

@meso @VIPPER @arcana
Because I believe in shit unlike half you niggas who are like 'hmmm I'm going to be le contrarian or something"

I like saying nigger and faggot as much as the next guy but like that's not an ideology or something. I do actually have one and I want the world to be better or something. That's why I can't stand 4cuck /pol/ niggas or any similar insincere sarcasmcucked people who are like 'I'm gonna laugh as rome burns' or something which i actually DON'T agree with and I think the world can be better or something.

A libshit would say something gay like "love is love and uhhh they were born like that" or something WHICH i never claimed. of course being gay is socialization, just like being straight is. If you were raised in an all male village you'd probably be GAY or something. But you might also become effeminate raised in an all female village.

I'm actually a zased redpilled stirnerite non-moralist zizekist chad and that is NOT libcuck... or something

@yomiel @VIPPER @arcana we aint contrarian pal we believe in the things we believe in through our own way rather than MUh reddit sources and socially accepted view must be correct
1

@meso @VIPPER @arcana
People here are contrarian all the time and often reactively dislike things for spurious reasons. I'm not a libcuck because I don't moralize, I never argue based on emotional feelings. Not to be the Ben Shapiro guy or anything but that's what defines most mainstream politics.

Meanwhile, what? When do I appeal to what the "socially accepted" view is? Or 'reddit sources'? Hatred of sources usually betrays a specific kind of anti-intellectualism I loathe. Ironically, you're depicting yourself as extremely emotional to dislike sources.

I never even said 'don't be homophobic', I just said that the gay voice can't be because of that because many people who WEREN'T molested do it too, ergo it must be some other factor, then went on to provide the most obvious seeming factor to me.

@arcana @monkey @georgia @lucy @meso it reminds me of that other poast guy that had a seething rage against jews and would make posts saying what should be done to them and what he'd do (iirc), and one time he posted a hand picture....

Literal princess hands. As someone else said in the thread, "hands that never saw hard work", i asked him for a handjob but he didn't say yes :(

@arcana @georgia @lucy @meso @monkey
and someone told me the reason why the guy hates jews (which i didnt confirm, that person said they read it? not sure), which is that... the guy was bullied by jews in HS LMFAO
