tbh i like that debian has less frequent updates. its annoying to update my fedora lappy every damn day

@georgia one of the reasons I changed to Arch, was the constant upgrades from Fedora 44 which included a lot of KDE Plasma updates, I don't know what is the deal. I know changing to Arch because of this reason sounds ironic, but I had less upgrades in 2 weeks using Arch than in 5 days using Fedora, example

@anokasion yeah i have kde plasma too. updating can be fun but only if the big ones are infrequent. with kde plus fedora (asahi remix) ill have like 500 MB a day on average

@georgia @anokasion same as I had... I don't know if Fedora 44 pulls KDE Plasma updates as soon as they pass their nightly build, in a way to focus on debugging the Window Manager, or what.
I just know that when I switched Wayland/KDE Plasma to use the AMD APU Vega 7 that comes with the Ryzen, I literally never had any more bugs of those that an application would crash suddenly that I had -not very commonly, but certainly daily- on Fedora.
I can't talk more because I don't know if Wayland+KDE Plasma@Arch using the discrete NVIDIA GPU I only set for ollama and games, would behave the same as Fedora or worse.

@anokasion @anokasion yeah i get application crashes for no reason too, but theyre consistent when they do happen

@georgia @anokasion well then you can debug them if you have the time and will; mine were really random, from Firefox to Psi-plus.
The system itself was stable as any modern Linux though. Although you know xkill don't work on Wayland/KDE Plasma, you have to use a set of keys to kill something on the GUI, and because I wasn't fast enough, I actually got the PC frozen once when I ran something that I couldn't kill on Wayland. But that has nothing to do with Fedora. Imagine Fedora 43 already came with Wayland by default. We still are a long way for complete stability when using NVIDIA in my opinion, things run incredible well using the AMD opensource driver. It's kind of stunning.

@anokasion @anokasion @georgia AMD's driver is proprietary software - although less than half of it is available under MIT Expat.
