@lain @thendrix dollar oysters suck at most places :( they don't taste bad per se but they barely have any flavor. if an oyster is good you'll find yourself eating it very slowly. and smiling.

@lain @thendrix what sucks is even at good places they are very variable. i haven't had a great oyster in a while. at very good places they have a lot of types and there's always one that's awesome but not all of them. :/

@lain @thendrix variable within types just as much as between based on temperature and currents and whatever. oysters are full of whatever the water is full of and unless they are cultivated under strictly controlled conditions this is inevitable. most are cultivated under mixed conditions, that is the water is "wild" but they are farmed in big cages. some are tumbled so their shells don't get too big and they grow deep instead of long which is prized.
