@georgia in the Catholic interpretation of the second commandment, you are allowed to make an image of Jesus etc. but you are not allowed to pray to that image. you are only allowed to pray to Jesus (or Mary or whomever as a mediator). . many laypeople might not understand, which is okay since God will forgive.

@kaia first off, catholic and orthodox christians pray in front of images and statues all the time.
but moreso, I said that christians should be iconodulists. if you looked up the word for more than a second (I mean no offence by this) you'd see that this means showing reverence to images but not worshipping the image itself as God. this is the predominant classical position of christianity which is why I assumed you were a protestant.

@georgia @kaia Man becoming divine is true only for Jesus Christ himself. It's possible for humans to become divinely inspired or even possessed by a divine spirit (although possession is generally demonic), as was the case with prophets and Christ's disciples, but the divinity is borrowed from God, it is not the people themselves being divine.

@Jens_Rasmussen @kaia all divinity is Gods divinity, no one is arguing for discrete divine natures, thats polytheism.
