No cap I think the shortest summary of what happened is "women woke up to the scam."
They expect equality in a committed relationship now, and most men don't consider that to be worth the bother; they just want a sex-slave nanny. So the women also stop bothering to even look for a "good man" because they assume there are none anyway.
I think the best trajectory from here would be moving towards a family model similar to that of matrilineal cultures like the Mosuo. If a woman has a child, she has a child; the father may involve himself or not. The woman's extended family supports her, and daughters aren't expected to move out but rather become valued and respected members of the household.
Some drastic changes would be required. Lots of wealth would need to shift into the hands of women, with daughters inheriting most if not everything from their mothers.
It's probably not gonna happen though. I don't know what will happen. It's a bit scary to think what kinds of things might happen instead.

It's also not clear by the charts if we're removing people who got divorced. A lot of divorces have increased between ages 40~50 when the kids leave and the spouses can't stand each other anymore.
