@anemone it's definitely not as blatant as other drugs because hitting rock bottom is harder, but most people I know who had bad addictions were often also doing other things like 2c, Noz, cocaine, Acid etc.
I knew a person who only realized they needed to stop coke after they discovered their lesbian dealers murdered some foo, took his supply, and then moved to SoCal to "start over".
I also think weed post legalization is very different than it was when it was still criminalized. Dispensaries look like Apple stores. Hood communities had their own opinions and attitudes towards it in the early 2000s.
For some reason nicotine addiction is extremely normalized and viewed as socially acceptable in various settings. You can smoke at AA or inpatient centers where they offer breaks.
In my culture, it is normalized to drink coffee all day, everyday. My mom has coffee at 9pm for whatever reason.
