@georgia the fitna has been rolling since Mo decided to do Maria on Aisha's day in Hafsa's bed and Fatima took Mo's side instead of being angry like the wives were.. and mo made up a new ayat to cover his own butt, and Aisha called him out on it.
After Mo died, maria was sold off, Hafsa and Aisha became the shadow leadership of the Sunni faction, Fatima became the Shadow leader of the Shi'a faction. Fatima's husband Ali was passed up for becoming the Caliph, and Abu Bakr as Saddiq (father of Aisha) became the first Caliph at Aisha's recommendation. Fatima's faction was slandered. Umar ibn al khattab died under mysterious circumstances, with both sides pointing fingers. But the Shi'a faction got in some influence with Uthman ibn Farooq, So Aisha had him assasinated. Then there was Ali ibn abi Talib (husband of Fatima) who was caliph for a few weeks before Aisha had him and his brothers assasinated, and their lands and Fatima's farms seized, and Fatima and the Shi'a went to Basra after being expelled from Makkah and Madinah. and they began teaching Shi'a sect beliefs and Aisha had them declared heretics, and led an army of 60,000 on Basra against the Shi'a and their Ibadi allies. Culminating in the battle of Al Jamal. Ibadi sect moved to Oman, And split into Zaydi and Ibadi, and the Zaydi moved to Yemen. Shi'a moved to Persia mostly, but Aisha was away for too long, and the Umayyad family set themselves up as the new Caliphs. A couple hundred years later, the Shi'a rebelled and installed the Abassyd Caliphate. The last enclave of the Umayyads was in the Emirate of Cordoba which fell in 1448.
