@elshara I remember when suggesting this would make you an enemy of the entire fediverse and they'd organize blocks against you

@sun @feld @georgia Probably because they didn't want a one way feed of someone's posts to not be able to be private if the user and or instance didn't allow for that. And I do want to respect their settings which is why I won't be creating a timeline like a fire hose. But rather, something to do with search APIs that respect privacy.

@ZRDR_DelRio @feld @georgia @sun I don't think they wanted to be just a Twitter clone. I could be wrong.

@sun @feld @georgia @ZRDR_DelRio To be devil's advocate, search data on my test server takes up 2TB of federated content and growing.

@sun @feld I know it happens a lot more frequently than either of us believe it should.

@feld I won't stop them from doing that if they are seriously that thin skinned about things. But I don't go out of my way to absolutely isolate any community let alone wish anyone to do the same, that I consciously know of. I believe in live and let live, and have many friends in different sectors of their own communities, that as far as I know do the same thing. I don't agree with everything someody says, nor do I expect anyone else to agree with me in that way either.

@feld BlueSky is one such platform where this kind of behavior still goes on, and it's disappointing to see. People in videos spend more time worried about what someone will do in the comments, and what someone will report them for on platforms, than they do just making wholesome content. And I want to be someone who brings that experience back, without all the extra conditionalities we've become accustomed to over time.
