@georgia @nyx this surprised me so i had to look into it -- apparently this is only true due to water buffalo meat which is classified as a type of beef on the global market. slaughter of domestic cows is illegal in most Indian states but slaughter of water buffalo is not, kind of a funny religious loophole.
