@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz huh, i didn't know that. interesting. there's all sorts of unique reproduction strategies in nature. i saw a youtube from a biologist i watch that went into some species of bird that effectively has 4 sexes since there are 2 types of male and 2 types of female that have completely different mating and child rearing strategies

@anemone thats fascinating. with superfecundation in cats cats multiple males can be fathers in a single litter. also cats are kinda freaky with their penile spines.

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz yeah that's kinda fucked up. shrimps are kinda funny since the females can only mate for like 15 minutes every 30 days (after molding, since if they mated too close to a molt they would just drop the eggs) so they just mate with a bunch of males in that limited window and the eggs get fertilized as they're laid
