@teratology @georgia you can lose a lot of weight on a diet of extremely low carbs (keto), high protein, moderate fat, and some leafy greens, without starving. it is still important to watch total calories as well because you can still gain weight on keto just not as easily as eating a bunch of carbs.
if you do about 1500 kcal/day and less than 10 grams of carbs though you'll lose weight rapidly. i'm doing this currently with about 15-1800 kcal/day and my last few lbs of visceral fat is finally going away
