@georgia this literally makes no sense. Yoga is yoking one to another -- a guru, divinity, etc. Protestantism is a heresy, so yeah, it leads to more of the same, but it is still distinct from satanism, which is a choice one makes in the denial of Christ, or the equivocation of Christ with other "gods".

it's not arrogance and racism to recognize that India is a sort of hell on earth with an oppressive caste system with no possibility of mobility (unlike classes in the west). It's underwritten by the very religious systems that offer religious practices such as yoga.

Saying there's no distinction between religions is the same ecumenical "one mountain, many paths" bullshit that suggests any particular religion and its claims irrelevant (since they're all the same.)

@jeremiah India's caste system is greatly diminished from its previous strength thanks mostly to hindu social reformers in the bhakti movement. india has its problems but is no where near a hell on earth. and when I say american protestantism leads to satanism I mean it creates grifters and antinomian sinners and from there theres a short bridge to be crossed to atheist mammon worship.

@jeremiah Theravada Buddhists can't really be called atheists, more like nontheists. and mahayana Buddhists are pretty much polytheists but still believe in the unity of the buddhawomb. even if they do not know it, they are yoked to God, I would say, in effect, for that is what liberation is.

@georgia @jeremiah i want people to understand that india is more than just yoga and hindu spiritual stuff, it's full of trash and pollution, it's a culture of scammers who don't care about their fellow man like we do, and allowing millions of them to come live here is a mistake. that's not from a racist perspective that's just wanting to preserve my own culture.

and sure there are some neat things about indian culture that i like. nothing is black and white

@georgia @jeremiah take what i say as a grain of salt, because i've never been to india. but based on what i've seen, yes, i do think we generally have more empathy toward each other, and cooperation, which is why we don't have rivers full of trash and raw sewage and people shitting in the streets (well, ok we do in some places, but overall not as common). but i don't want to live in a predominantly black neighborhood either. a lot of this is cultural and religious and ethnic imo.

of course the USA has its own problems, i'm not really trying to put us on a pedestal here, i just don't want to live in a pile of trash and die of hepatitis or TB.

i did travel around mexico for 6 months and noticed there is a lot more trash in some places like national parks and beaches. what we have here is still special but it won't be for long if we let in millions of 3rd worlders.

I'd like to know where you get a connection between bhakti and lessening of caste issues (and evidence of the latter for any reason other than British law under the Raj and token grants right after independence).
