the idea that past lives need to be dredged up processed and dealt is probably a product of western psychology

@sarvo in hinduism memories from past lives are to be put aside and not identified with. unwanted samskaras are burnt up through various ways especially devotion and meditation. but in new age woo past lives are treated like western psychology treats unaddressed childhood trauma. they have to be processed and worked through and the way they influence this life is seen as making them important.
