lemme just say theres no suicide in the principal upanishads (although there is some in some later minor upanishads), or in the Bhagavad gita which condemns torture of the body, but there is suicide by immolation in the bhagavata purana including in the uddhava gita... guess its not just sati for the womanfolk... man I'm real soured on this purana.

the "holy places and gods purify after a while but brahmanas purify simply from a glance" quote that bothered me so is translated in this book as "saints purify" with gods referring to murtis. this makes sense. I have seen two versions of it in this book and both times its "saints". here's the second version.

Christlike? no, just casteist. God is the greatest yogi, of course He looks on all with equal vision... after I finish the krishna part of the BP I'm reading the bhagavad gita again.
