interesting that opponents of advaita vedanta call it mayavada, because who would doubt that brahman is non-dual? its in the upanishads after all. but more than anything they like to criticize the notion that a personal god is an imposition of maya, which I would also disagree with. I think that God is pure consciousness transcending the concept of person or non person, beyond "He" and "It". of course opponents of advaita vedanta also cast doubt on the great sayings of the upanishads that the jiva is Brahman, which I wouldnt do.
