@allison @Moon it's pretty confined to western countries. it's not supported by muslim polities. there are more liberal schools of jurisprudence but that's only relatively speaking. were talking about trans people, who are only halal in iran if they cure the gay. (and all the muslim trans women i have seen are transbians)

@eris @Moon @allison it's not muslims who are intrinsically hateful. muslims are just people, mostly raised into islam. i have read about half the quran, certainly most of the medinan stuff, and i can tell you, it is a highly intolerant belief system. sure there's bad stuff in the old testament, but for millennia jews have used all manner of.pedantry to avoid applying the death penalty. even ultraorthodox jews don't stone gays. islam is VIOLENTLY intolerant of homosexuality and is strongly gendered. to convert to such an ideology is a tacit endorsement of this.

@a_breakin_glass @allison i mean not quite. islam is veeeeery strictly monistic and monotheistic, the divinity is an absolute unique One, the fact that divinity can be in a person (ie jesus) is an abomination to muslims. muslims even believe "man is made in the Divine Image" to be a hubris.
