If you have seen the words "zahibah halal" on packages, it means the meat was sacrifical. An animal which was set aside for an important sacrifice (for example, for blessing a newborn or for eid al adha) is called a qurban. And there are long prayers for qurbani, but for general purpose, say, just for the sake of food, before cutting it, you point it towards Makkah and say "Bismillah wa Allahu Akbar" and cut it, and bury the blood so nobody steps on it, because it is sacred.
